Kate Scott
Organist & Pianist
A graduate of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Kate Scott is pursuing her master’s degree in organ performance at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. Kate has been very active in the American Guild of Organists, serving as dean of the Duquesne chapter, as secretary of the Duquesne Pipe Organ Encounter (2004), and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Pittsburgh chapter while still in high school. She received her Colleague Certificate from the Guild in 2005. Kate has played numerous recitals in Pittsburgh and Wheeling area churches and in 2005 won second prize in the Quimby Region III Competition for Young Organists. The Duquesne Organ Department visited organs in Germany and Holland in July 2006 and Kate was the coordinator for the trip, which was an invaluable learning experience. The organist at South Hills Presbyterian Church in the suburbs of Pittsburgh for five years, Kate is excited to be joining the staff of Christ Lutheran in Bethesda. In her non-musical free time, she enjoys scrapbooking and studying theology.
