In a spirit of collaboration and fellowship, Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County works with individuals, institutions, faith organizations, businesses, and the Habitat families themselves to build simple, decent, energy efficient, and affordable housing for those living in substandard conditions in our community.
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans announced December 6 that in 2011 it will fund the construction of 164 Habitat for Humanity homes in 33 states with a $10.4 million contribution. Thrivent Financial's total six-year commitment to Habitat for Humanity to help families achieve the dream of homeownership will surpass $150 million in 2011.
Habitat for Humanity's relationship with Thrivent Financial brings the financial, volunteer and advocacy resources of Thrivent Financial together with the affordable housing construction leadership of hundreds of local Habitat for Humanity affiliates. During the past five years, this integrated effort resulted in the construction of nearly 1,500 homes in the United States, which engaged approximately 450,000 volunteers who contributed nearly 3 million volunteer hours toward the effort.
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has joined forces with Habitat for Humanity creating a program called: Thrivent Builds! The need for affordable housing in Montgomery County is huge! This program provides Lutheran Congregations an opportunity to help! Here is how:
